Black Arts Council Manager
Job Summary:
The Berkshire Black Economic Council (BBEC) is dedicated to fostering economic growth, development, and sustainability for the Black community in the Berkshire region. The Black Arts Council Manager will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the strategic vision of the Black Arts Council within BBEC. This position will work closely with the Executive Director and various stakeholders to ensure the successful development and implementation of programs that celebrate Black arts and culture, secure funding, support artists, and promote cross-functional collaboration.
Duties:
- Report to the Executive Director and assist in aligning the Black Arts Council's initiatives with overall organizational goals, contributing to strategic planning and improvement plans.
- Collaborate with arts and cultural organizations to design and conduct inclusive programming that engages the community and celebrates Black arts.
- Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies, grant applications, and oversee fundraising events to secure financial support for the Black Arts Council.
- Conduct one-on-one technical assistance meetings with artists, providing guidance, feedback, and resources to support their professional growth.
- Facilitate workshops and training sessions to enhance the skills and capacities of the artist cohort, fostering a supportive environment for continuous learning.
- Coordinate joint initiatives with the Executive Director, Executive Assistant, and Enrichment Navigator to identify synergies and ensure effective communication among stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the Communications Coordinator to promote Black Arts Council events through various media channels and maintain updated content for BBEC’s website and social media.
- Supervise and provide leadership to the Black Arts Council team, ensuring effective collaboration and achievement of collective goals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Arts Administration, Cultural Management, or a related field preferred; Master’s degree a plus.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in program development, fundraising, and artist support within the arts and cultural sector.
- Proven track record of developing effective fundraising strategies and managing relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with a variety of community partners and stakeholders.
- Knowledge of current trends and issues in the Black arts and culture landscape.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and commitment to BBEC’s mission.
