POSITION SUMMARY: | Serves as a key leader in the district, responsible for overseeing and coordinating efforts to enhance instructional quality, access student progress and foster strong family and community partnerships. This role requires a dynamic individual with a deep understanding of curriculum development, assessment practices and strategies to promote meaningful family engagement in education. |
SALARY: | $125,000 - $140,000 Salary commensurate with experience |
EDUCATION: | Master’s degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Leadership or a related field required |

DUTIES: | Lead development and implementation of comprehensive culturally responsive Instructional strategies for elementary and secondary education that align with district goals, curriculum standards and best practices Collaborate with school principals, program directors and instructional staff to ensure the effective planning, delivery and evaluation of instructional programs that meet the diverse needs of students Provide guidance and support to school leaders in curriculum development, instructional design and assessment practices to promote student engagement, learning and achievement Oversee the design and implementation of intervention programs and practices, ensuring they meet the needs of the target population and align with best practices in the field Analyze assessment data to identify trends, strengths and areas of improvement in instruction and use the findings to inform decision-making, resource allocation and professional development initiatives Collaborate with the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education to establish and refine accountability systems to monitor the implementation and outcomes of elementary and secondary instructional programs, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations and district standards Facilitate the provision of professional development opportunities for teachers and staff to enhance instructional practices, assessment practices Write and maintain entitlement grants in collaboration with the Assistant Superintendent for School Turnaround and Accountability Develop and maintain system for tracking grant awards, expenditures and reporting deadlines Coordinate with finance and accounting staff to ensure proper allocation and documentation of grant funds Ensure principal evaluations are conducted in accordance with district, state and professional policies/regulation/standards Prepare reports/presentations on school improvement efforts/outcomes for district leadership, the PPS School Committee and other stakeholders Oversee interdistrict transfer requests and home education plans Provide oversight/support for homeless and foster students Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent |
EXPERIENCE: | Minimum of five years of experience in education leadership roles, with a proven track record of success Experience in staff supervision, professional development and strategic planning Knowledge of state and federal education regulations and standards |
SPECIAL SKILLS: | Ability to foster partnerships with families, community stakeholders and organizations to support elementary initiatives and promote student success Ability to plan and coordinate family engagement events, workshops and activities to empower families to support students’ academic success Ability to provide guidance to all schools on effective communication strategies to promote family involvement in school activities and decision-making processes Deep understanding of instructional strategies, curriculum development, assessment practices and accountability systems Commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion in education with a focus on improving outcomes for our students who have been historically marginalized Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and use data to drive decision- making and improve student outcomes |
