Assistant Professor of Biological Sciences

We are looking to add a faculty member who is passionate about teaching Anatomy & Physiology and Biology courses to students pursuing associate degrees and certificates in Nursing, Allied Health, and Natural & Physical Sciences. The ideal candidate will have a strong ability to develop and present lectures, active learning experiences, and hands-on, evidence-based laboratory activities. We would like to find an instructor who understands how to use assessment to support student success. Additionally, the successful candidate will effectively utilize our learning management system (Moodle) to provide students with access to instructional resources and course-wide communications.

We seek a colleague who embraces a collaborative approach working within our department and the Nursing program. A successful candidate will appreciate the diversity of the community college population, demonstrate a passion for teaching, and foster analytical thinking, scientific inquiry, and student research.

Faculty members typically provide 15 credit hours of instruction each semester, participate in college service such as community outreach, committee work, and advise students. BCC offers regular professional development opportunities.

 
Required Training and Experience

  • Master's degree or PhD in Science Education, Anatomy & Physiology, Kinesiology, Biology or closely related field.
  • Related teaching experience, community college teaching experience preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively use technology in teaching and learning
  • Demonstrated experience with curriculum and/or program development

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated effectiveness working in a collaborative, team setting
  • Commitment to increasing access, inclusion, equity, and diversity in science education

Salary: $54,201 - $68,392 per year, per MCCC contract, Full-time, Benefited;
